Tweeters, the Clark's-type Grebe is still on the north lobe of Capital Lake in Olympia as of 3:30 PM today. The bird was in a sleeping posture the whole time so I only got a look at the flanks and eye-placement. Others have emailed me privately and said they saw the bird this noon and were unsure of the true bill color. The lighting has not been terrific the past two days and it seems the color can change due to lighting (our experience was dark sky = lighter bill, lighter dark sky = orange cast to bill). The lores remained white despite sky conditions.

Hopefully it sticks around another day for pictures or more birder coverage. Maybe the Sullivan's or others who were able to see the Oak Bay bird could come down and have a look. Good luck!
