Yes, I admit that I am quite obsessed with finding my
coastal nemesis bird, the Black-tailed Gull.

After two different trips to the coast (August &
September), I have racked up quite a few good state
birds (e.g. Ruff, Laysan Albatross, Acorn Woodpecker,
Pacific Golden Plover, Bar-tailed Godwit, and even
Orchard Oriole). However, I am feeling a distressing
lack of fulfillment due to my missing the (in)famous
Black-tailed Gull. I have visited North Cove so many
times (on at least five different days), that they
should probably bronze cast my footprints. The BT Gull
was always seen the day before or several days after
my puny/worthless attempts.

Since it seems that virtually everyone on Tweeters
has seen the bird multiple times and finds it with
minimal effort, I am seriously contemplating venturing
out there yet again. Perhaps if I allocate at least a
week, I might increase my odds just enough to finally
see for this vexing bird. Short of moving to the
coast, I don't know what else to do.

If anyone can offer any other helpful suggestions or
advice short of the obvious (but applicable) "get a
life", "enter rehab for your listing addiction",
"forget it, you're the worst birder ever", etc., I
would greatly appreciate it.
