Today was a banner day for waterfowl on Pine Lake in Sammamish. We had a new
sighting that caused a bit of a ruckus, and we need confirmation of our ID.

Since our winter waterfowl are starting to arrive, we naturally assumed these
were female Buffleheads. But then, something about them didn't look quite
right. So out came the binocs, the telephoto lenses and eventually, the spotting
scope. Then we had to hunt down our field guides, which were still packed away
from our move last March.

You know it's gotta be something good when you run around trying to locate
your field guides. :)
