Thanks to Aaron Martin for the owl tip; I make a brief trip downtown around
2:30. Not only did I readily find the owl, I also got a parking spot
directly under it. A few times I worried that the attention might flush the
bird, especially when one person started rapping his hand on the base of the
tree. I asked him to stop.The owl opened its eyes and gazed down, but seemed
unruffled.

Afterwards I went to the Pike Place Market to try to inform wildlife artist
Ed Newbold of the owl, but unfortunately he was roosting in his studio on
Beacon Hill.

The Seattle PI has a picture of the owl on the front of its local news
section today.
