A Canvasback appeared on Capital Lake in Olympia on Thursday, Oct 21. It was in company with scaups etc on both the "upper" and "lower" lakes. Without a field guide for reference, it is most likely a female. Is this on the early side for this species?

12 duck species were noted. I was not able to relocate the Clark's/Western grebe (noon hour).
