Hi Tweets,

Kristi and I will be teaching a four-part Beginning Birder class starting
this Wednesday, October 27. The class is organized for Seattle Audubon,
with several purposes in mind. One hope is that Seattle Audubon volunteers
who aren't strong birders will come and learn a bit more about bird
identification, behavior, and biology. We would also like to invite any
beginning birders out there from the broader community to also attend the
classes. There will be chance to learn more about Seattle Audubon and about
volunteer opportunities there.

The classes will focus on learning many of the common birds of the Puget
Sound region by sight and sound. Each class will focus on a different
season, and different groups of birds (the first class will focus on
woodpeckers and sparrows, among others). We will also be talking a bit
about habitats, bird behavior, and bird feeding.

Wednesday's class will be from 7-9pm in the Kent Evans Auditorium at
Lakeside School (14050 1st Ave NE in Seattle, near I-5 and 145th). The
class is free and open to the public, BUT you must call the Seattle Audubon
Nature Shop to register at 206-523-4483 (the room is a finite size!). The
other classes are at the same time and location on December 2, January 27,
and March 30.
