A flock of 12 SURF SCOTERS and 6 WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS were seen off the City
Beach in Sandpoint, Bonner Co ID on 18 Oct by Earl Chapin. From the beach on
20 Oct, Earl and Jay Carlisle observed a LONG-TAILED DUCK, at least 4 SURF
SCOTERS, a first winter MEW GULL, and a first winter THAYER'S GULL. ID

Good birds were seen around Lewiston, Nez Perce Co ID. On 16 Oct Terry Gray
saw 2 SURF SCOTERS on the Clearwater River near the Lewiston grain terminal
and the male EURASIAN WIGEON continues to persist at the big levee pond. On
19 Oct Jay Carlisle saw 2 SURF SCOTERS, CACKLING GEESE, and a NORTHERN
GOSHAWK at Mann Lake. West Pond (the big pond next to the railroad bridge
over the Clearwater River) is along US 12 and the levee in Lewiston. To get
to Mann Lake from the north end of Lewiston, take US 12 across the
Clearwater River. At the traffic light, turn left and go up the 21st Street
hill. It will turn into Thain. A block past where Thain goes from 4 lanes to
2, turn left onto Powers Avenue and follow Powers a few miles to the grain
towers and the reservoir. ID DeLorme 54, A-1.

A first winter MEW GULL was at Walla Walla Point Park in Wenatchee, Chelan
Co WA on 19 Oct according to Dave Beaudette. Also in the park was a male
EURASIAN WIGEON. The gull was on the lawn near the park's south entrance and
the duck at the north end near the pond. Walla Walla Point Park is just

A first year RUSTY BLACKBIRD was in Coolin, Bonner Co ID on 20 Oct according
to Bob Bond.

BLUE JAY sightings. One bird each unless noted. New for this week unless
noted. Three along Lowell Drive in Walla Walla, Walla Walla Co WA south of
Bryant and west of Sturm on 20 Oct according to Nat Drumheller. A first
county record along Elm Street in Pomeroy, Garfield Co WA on 21 Oct by Mike
and MerryLynn Denny. Three at 1310 Newell in Walla Walla by Carole & Ron
Louderback. Worley, Kootenai Co ID on 9 Oct by Alison Meyer. Nun Road, Coeur
d'Alene, Kootenai Co ID, 3-9 Oct by Lea Carter. Secondhand reports from
Shirley Sturts: Clagstone Road near Athol, Bonner Co ID; Hayden Lake,
