Hello All,

This evening at about 5:25 P.M. while birding McNary Pool and Casey Pond after doing a roadside litter pickup along HWY12, MerryLynn spotted three Cattle Egrets flying out and away from us. These three egrets flew east across HWY 12 JUST NORTH OF MILE MARKER 300 and then off to the southeast and on into a horse pasture. Marking the spot we( 7 of us) drove from the west edge of McNary Pool and looking at the 90+ Tundra Swans onto HWY 12 south to Iverson Rd. and out to the end of Iverson Rd. then off to the right uphill to the top of the hill and the horse pasture. Right beside us foraged the three Cattle Egrets. George Jameson obtained photos and we all had outstanding views of these rare visitors. This is our first October Cattle Egret Record in Walla Walla County that we are aware of.

One other note, yesterday (27th) there were 141+ Tundra Swans on McNary Pool beside HWY 12. These birds were located by Ginger and Rodger Shoemake and seen by Bob Woodley. Highest number to date in Walla Walla Co..
