This is the Vancouver Natural History Society's Rare Bird Alert for
Thursday, October 28th, sponsored in part by Wild Birds Unlimited,
with stores in Vancouver and North Vancouver.

Sightings for Thursday, October 28th

The flock of 70+ SURFBIRDS was again seen along the West Vancouver Seawall
at the foot of 23rd Ave.

Along Templeton Road on Sea Island was an immature NORTHERN SHRIKE.

Sightings for Wednesday, October 27th

The ASH-THROATED FLYCATCHER was again seen along the inside of the hedgerow
at 72nd Street.

In a field north of the interesection of 34th Street and 33A Ave was a
juvenile SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER.

At the Reifel Refuge the following birds were reported:
1 GOLDEN EAGLE, 1 MOUNTAIN CHICKADEE, 1 CHESTNUT-BACKED CHICKADEE and
1 BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON.

Along the South Jetty at Iona Island was a flock of 11 SNOW BUNTINGS and a
WESTERN MEADOWLARK.

At the foot of 23rd Ave along the West Vancouver Seawall was a flock of 100+
SURFBIRDS.

Sightings for Tuesday, October 26th

At the foot of 104th Street on the afternoon hightide the ROCK SANDPIPER was
again present with a flock of Dunlin. At the pilings was a flock of 6-8 SNOW
BUNTINGS.

At the Marina at Point Roberts Washington the RUDDY TURNSTONE was again seen
amongst a flock of 20+ Black Turnstones.

Along 41B Street was a group of 2 AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVERS and 1 PACIFIC
GOLDEN PLOVER.
