I had two birders visiting from out of town this week, so I took them up
to the Skagit and Samish Flats on October 27 and 28. Here is a belated
report of some of the more notable things we saw:

October 27

1 Yellow Warbler and 1 Hermit Thrush at the Game Range
1 "Blue Goose" with a large flock of Snow Geese on Fir Island Rd
2 Northern Shrike, one at the Hayton reserve and one at the West 90
1 Gyrfalcon, on Samish Island Rd, north of the West 90

October 28

At least 4 Evening Grosbeak and 1 White-crowned Sparrow at the Game
Range
2 Cackling Geese with a large flock of Snow Geese on Fir Island Rd
3 Eared Grebe at the Stanwood STP
