I probably should have mentioned in my last post that, if you are
looking for the Gyrfalcon at the West 90, it might be a good idea to
scan the ground, and not just the fenceposts, in the area. When we
spotted the bird, it was sitting on top of a power pole, but it soon
flew down to the ground in the adjoining bare field. We watched it
there for awhile, until, for some strange corvid reason, a raven landed
a few feet away and walked in a circle around the Gyr. The Gyr finally
flew at the raven, and chased it back and forth for about a minute. It
was pretty exciting!
