Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday September 2. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

On August 29 a BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER was at the Hot Springs Campground on
Hart Mountain. On August 31 a male and female were near the junction of Row
River Road and Smith Creek Road in Lane County.

Up to 13 BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS were on the North Spit of Coos Bay during
the week. Others were reported from the South Jetty of the Siuslaw River,
Tillamook Bay, Gearhart, and the South Jetty of the Columbia River. On
August 26, 30 ELEGANT TERNS were at Brookings and two were at Gold Beach. A
WHITE PELICAN was at the South Jetty of the Columbia River August 28.

On August 28 eight BLACK SWIFTS were over Ridgefield NWR; the next day three
were over Steigerwald NWR near Washougal. On August 29 four SHORT-BILLED
DOWITCHERS and a PECTORAL SANDPIPER were among a large flock of LONG-BILLED
DOWITCHERS at the Vanport Wetlands in North Portland. Three RED-SHOULDERED
HAWKS were at the Tualatin NWR August 26. A STILT SANDPIPER is now being
seen at the Pioneer Villa Ponds near Brownsville. Thousands of VAUX?S
SWIFTS are now coming to their roost chimneys at Chapman School in
northwest Portland and the Agate Hall chimney on the U of O Campus in
Eugene.

On August 28 a RED-SHOULDERED HAWK was near Redmond. Two HERMIT WARBLERS
were near big Summit Prairie in the Ochoco Mountains August 29.
