Hi Tweeters,

I got out of work a bit early last night and did a
little birding in Kent.

I went to the pond off of Frager Road, I cannot recall
it's name but it is accessed by a trail off the road
that is posted not to trespass. I do not know who
owns the pond but I was quite dissapointed that the
trail around it has been allowed to grow over. The
main trail to the housing developements is open, the
rest is pure blackberries. I did see about 4 pintails
in the pond and many mallards. One Green Heron in the
waterway on the other side. Also a large of flock of
about 80% Violet Green Swallows and the rest Barn
Swallows foraging over the pond. Nearby 2 Stellar's
Jays.

Then I went to see if Thomas Pond has improved yet for
shorebirds, the answer is no! It is very full (of
water). Some ducks on the pond including pintail.
The mitigation area on the curve beyond Thomas Pond
looks about complete, including a couple of planted
snags. Maybe once this water settles and grows some
edibles it will attract shorebirds. Going around the
loop I saw about 75-100 Red Wing Blackbirds on a pond
near a motorcycle warehouse.

Boeing Pond has also been very dead for shorebirds but
I did see 3 Greater Yellowlegs there last night and a
small flock of peeps that flew around but did not
land, they moved off south.

The hummingbird discussion has been interesting, the
strangest place I have seen an Anna's is front of the
Fairwood library, perched up on a tree. I'm not sure
when it was but I sure did a double take when I saw
it.
