My wife and I birded the River "S" Unit of the Ridgefield Refuge
in Clark County, on Sunday, August 5th. I finally saw the two juvenile
SNOWY EGRETS in Rest Lake, while observing them we spotted three BLACK
SWIFTS overhead. Our first of the fall SANDHILL CRANES were the fourteen
we spotted in the field South of Rest Lake.
On the sightings board there was a notation of a female Hooded
Oriole seen today with no details, we looked for it without any success.
Several WHITE-BREASTED NUTHATCHES were calling at each stop we made in
the Oregon Ash forests.
