Hi Tweeters:
Yesterday, Sept. 6, the water level on the Yakima delta was such that fairly extensive mudflats were available to foraging shorebirds and waterfowl. The weather was perfect for birding and this combination yielded the following observations:

White pelican 10
Double-crested cormorant 18
Great egret 2
Great blue heron 1
Canada goose
Green-winged teal
Mallard
N. Pintail
N. Shoveler
American wigeon
Osprey 1
Red-tailed hawk 1
Peregrine falcon 1
American coot
Killdeer many
Greater yellowlegs 22
Lesser yellowlegs 10
Western sandpiper many
Least sandpiper many
Baird's sandpiper 1
Red-necked phalarope 6
Ring-billed gull many
California gull many
Caspian tern several
Vaux's swift 1
Belted kingfisher 1
N. flicker 2
Bank swallow
Barn swallow
American pipit 1

Today, Sept. 6, I added 3 more species to the above list as follows:

Black-necked stilt 1 pair
Semipalmated plover 3
Bonaparte's gull 1

If the water remains low, the birding here should remain very good for at least another month.
Cheers,
