Hi Tweeters,

I spent Friday afternoon and Saturday in Ocean Shores with highlight being
five Buff-breasted Sandpipers at the end of Damon Spit Friday afternoon and
seven on Saturday afternoon. Photos of them are in the new photos folder
on my website. I also saw the Ruff found by Ruth and Patrick Sullivan
along the North River trail. I really appreciated them calling their
friend to post an e-mail about the Ruff so quickly. I called a friend in
Yakima Saturday evening and got the latest Tweeters news from him.

I went to Bill's Spit several times and was totally confused at not being
able to find the lot with parking for access to Bill's Spit (I had left my
"Birder's Guide" at home). I finally realized there is a new house sitting
on the lot, with another partly framed up next door.

Kathleen Wolgemuth, who lives down the street on Bay Avenue, told me
birders are supposed to be able to access Bill's Spit by walking between
the houses. Who knows, though, if the new owners will agree with that.

Kathleen lives at 730 N. Bay Avenue. Her house is the only one on the
street with a gravel driveway. She told me that people can access Bill's
Spit by walking up her driveway, keeping to the south (right) side of her
garage, and finding a faint trail from the backyard to the beach. If
enough people go that way the trail will be easier to find. Her telephone
number is 360-289-2004 if anyone has questions.
