Greetings.
I know this is late, but my home computer died over
the weekend, so this is my first opportunity to post
....
Spent the Weekend at the coast around Grays harbor.
Highlights were:
Oyhut Game Range in Ocean Shores on Sat 4th - 3
Buff-Bellied Sandpipers, 1 Sharp-tailed Sandpiper, 1
Snowy Plover, plus the usual Pectoral, Least, and
Western Sandpipers.
Ocean Shores Jetty about 5:00 PM - about 2-4000 Sooty
Shearwaters, plus Pelicans, Cormorants, Gulls, etc
feeding on a large bait-ball about 300-400 yards off
the jetty. Fantastic views!! Incredible masses of
birds swirling and diving!!
Johns River, Sun 5th - Juvenile Ruff as reported by
the Sullivans, plus the usual other suspects.
Saw quite a few warblers as well. Yellow, Wilson's,
Common Yellowthroat at Bowerman Basin. And
Black-throated Gray, Orange-crowned, and more C.
Yellowthroat at Bottle Beach. I seemed to find
juvenile C. Yellowthroat everywhere I went over the
weekend.
Stop at Nisqually on the way home, dipped on the
Wheatear, but saw my first gold-crowned sparrow of the
year.
Overall a good weekend of Birding!
Guy
