Hello everyone,
Sorry this is late. My wife and I returned from Pullman yesterday afternoon.
Stopped at Bassett Park in Washtucna - well-described by others. One heckuva
lot of nice birds!
Hatton rest area sewage ponds at the Highway 26/395 junction had a solitary
sandpiper. This bird spent a lot of time in the rocks surrounding the pond
and was sometimes difficult to locate. Also seen were some westerns, leasts,
Bairds a lesser yellowlegs, and five American pipits. Above the ponds was a
soaring Swainson's hawk.
County line ponds had several western sandpipers, a few Bairds and a couple
of leasts. Two phalaropes went unidentified due to poor lighting.
