The Museum of Flight is having what looks to be an interesting presentation
on Tuesday, Sept 14. The program is "Terminal Velocity" A Royal Aeronautical
Society Lecture
Capt. Ken Franklin is a master falconer who has researched, tracked and
trained many different breeds of raptors. He has done extensive air-to-air
filming of peregrine falcons from hang gliders and ultralights and was the
first person in the world to freefall with a raptor. His peregrine falcon,
Frightful, who will also attend the lecture, is the fastest directly
recorded animal on earth. The lecture will focus on the biology of the
peregrine falcon, how sub-species of falcons differ and Frightful's
incredible aerodynamics in a high-speed dive. Time is 6:00 PM to 7:30 pm
Presentation is free; Museum galleries will be closed. Check out their
website.
