Hello Washington---
On rather short notice, we are planning a birding trip to western
Washington state and are looking for advice on where to bird during the
last week of September.
We are equally interested in passerines, raptors & shorebirds. The
northern limit of our western birding has been the area just north of
San Francisco in CA. At this point, I am still figuring out what your
passerine specialties are. Any advice would be appreciated.
It has been 29 years since my first & last Western Tanager. Another one
would be nice. In addition to your western shorebirds, places to see
the following would be of interest:
MacGillivrays's Warbler
Northern Goshawk
Golden Eagle
Blue Grouse
White-headed Woodpecker
Red-breasted Sapsucker
Black-billed Magpie
American Dipper
Black-headed Grosbeak
Bullock's Oriole
Gray-crowned Rosy-Finch
Red Crossbill
Pine Grosbeak
We are flying into SeaTac, but will look to book accommodations in an
area convenient to the best birding.
Thanks & Good Birding
