Tuesday September 14, 2004:
A RED-TAILED HAWK was seen along Erminskin Avenue in Parksville

Monday September 13:
A BARROW'S GOLDENEYE was spotted at the Nanaimo River Estuary in south Nanaimo.

Sunday September 12:
A juvenile HEERMAN'S GULL was seen on a log boom at the Nanaimo River Estuay in south Nanaimo.
A RED-TAILED HAWK, two SHARP-SHINDED HAWKS, and a MERLIN were seen just off Corfield Road in Parksville.
A large flock of SURF, WHITE-WINGED and BLACK SCOTERS along with MEW, BONAPART'S and CALIFORNIA GULLS were seen in Nanoose Bay.
An OSPREY was seen fishing near the "A" frame house off Shorewood Drive and Kinkade Road in north Qualicum Beach.

Saturday September 11:
"RARE BIRD ALERT"
A WHITE-THROATED SWIFT was seen with BLACK SWIFTS at the Englichman River Estuary in Parksville.
A RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD was seen in with a flock of ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRDS in the 100 block of Nottingham Drive in Nanaimo.
Three WESTERN GREBES were seen at Dodds Narrows in Cedar.

Thursday September 09:
A NORTHERN HARRIER was sighted at the Nanaimo River Estuary in south Nanaimo.

Wednesday September 08:
"RARE BIRD ALERT'
A COMMON EIDER was seen flying at Rathtrevor Provincial Park nea Parksville.
Eight SANDHILL CRANES were seen feeding, drinking water and displaying, in a hay field along Cowichan Bay Road, not far from the Tennis Court.

Monday September 06:
:RARE BIRD ALERT:
One FEMALE RUFF was seen on the Courtney River Estuary at the Base of Millar Crescent in Courtney.
One PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVER and one SEMIPALMATED PLOVER were seen at the Nanaimo River Estuary, Holden Creek side in south Nanaimo.
HORNED LARKS, AMERICAN PIPETS, COOPERS, SHARP-SHINED and RED-TAILED HAWKS and over twenty COMMON RAVENS were spotted at the top of Mount Cokely.

Sunday September 05:
Two PILEATED WOODPECKERS seen at Hodges Road off Lee Road in Parksville.

This Sunday Bird walk on September 19, will be going to the Nanoose Estuary. Meet at the store at 8:30 am or at the beach behind the Church Camp at about 8:45 am. (access off Highway 19 turn onto Arlington Road just south of Northwest Bay Road and follow Arlington Road to the Beach past the Church Camp)

Please note :We are planning a trip to Sooke to catch the annual Rapture migration during the last week of September
the plan is to car pool from the store. More details will follow as plans are made.
