Stopped by Vantage on my way through today, at the Ginkgo overlook in VERY
windy conditions I saw a group of about 25 Common Terns flying out in mid
river. In among these was 1 SABINES GULL and 1 JAEGER SP, looked like
Parasitic, but was too far and too windy to get good enough looks.
On the way back to Ellensburg there was a flooded corner of a field next to
I-90 on the north side of I-90 about MP 114.5, there was 2 Least sandpiper
and 1 PECTORAL SANDPIPER.
Finally coming home to Yakima, I spotted 2 Common Terns flying on the pond
just north of the Selah exit on I-82. Seemed unusual to see away from larger
lakes or the Columbia.
Good birding.
