Hey Tweeters,

This evening, while scanning the waters north of Blaine's Marine Park, a
large white bird flew into my field of view. I quickly switched over to my
scope and got on the bird, which turned out to be a swan. Unfortunately, it
was too far out for me to be able to figure out which species it was, but it
was without a doubt (even I doubted it at first) a swan of some type. I
watched it fly around at quite a distance for a few minutes until it
eventually landed, far away, in choppy water.

Being quite a bit out of season, it immediately raised a lot of questions in
my head. Questions that I was hoping some of you tweeters might be able to
answer...

Mostly, does anybody know if there are any resident Mute Swans (or other
species of swan for that matter) that hang out in the waters around Blaine?
Also, do resident swans tend to wander around much?

Well, either way, it was nice to see a swan. And hopefully if anybody is
birding up there they will keep an eye out for it.

Good Migrations,
