Today after a migration banding session in Wallula, 4 of us stopped at
Tyson (formerly Iowa Beef) Ponds in Wallula. After all, one can't go by
without looking can they?

Jack and Murrel Dawson as well as Chris Simonen & I found a few shorebirds,
gulls and a Northern Harrier before the big show happened. Suddenly the
gulls took off and the harrier wasn't to be seen. An immature jaeger flew
in and gave us quite a show, chasing every gull in sight. (We saw 1
American Avocet, 3 Red-necked Phalarope, 1 Pectoral Sandpiper and a
Black-bellied Plover there by the time we were done)

On the way out on Dodd Road, we stopped at the smelliest area and there
were more shorebirds - the usuals (Killdeer, both yellowlegs, Western &
Least Sandpipers, Long-billed Dowitchers) as well as 2 Sanderling, a
Black-bellied Plover, a Semipalmated Plover and 4 Pectoral Sandpipers.

Not a bad show!

Nancy
