Thanks to all of you who have kept us posted on the Scissor-tailed
Flycatcher. We arrived around 1:30 pm in the general vicinity, and might
not have located it but for the kindness of other birders who, though almost
ready to leave, pointed it out to us. It was sitting (apparently) in a
different location from past sightings. This time it was perched atop a
sturdy (pier or dock-style) post near a gravel road a couple hundred feet or
so east of Randolph road. This was only a couple tenths of a mile north of
Tyndall road. The gravel road leading east may have been tempting, but the
gate at its entrance clearly posted a no trespassing sign. Strangely, there
was no fence surrounding the property, nor any other similar signs that we
noticed. We did stay by the road, however, and in spite of the distance had
some good views--though at that distance, good pictures were impossible.
Those who found us afterward and scoped it, couldn't get good photos either,
due to the wind and the heat waves. I did get a few pictures, when the
bird landed for a few moments in the power lines, but they are not nearly so
good as the some of the photos which have already been posted.

Anyhow, it's nice to get a lifer which is a first state record in my own
home state! Thank you all again for the good directions and for keeping us
posted. We observed the bird until nearly 4:00 pm when it flew up the draw,
flying low where we could hardly follow it, and didn't reappear.
