I stopped at the Steigerwald Lake N.W.R. near Washougal in Clark
County, and scanned the flocks of swallows over the wetlands. In this
mixed flock of Tree Swallows, Barn Swallows and Vaux's Swifts I picked
out at least 2 BLACK SWIFTS. While trying to follow them in flight i
noticed several birds in a group high above the refuge that after
focusing were distinguishable as a kettle of 35 TURKEY VULTURES.
