Birders,

I thought some of you might be interested in the banding totals to
date (August 1 to September 19) from the Vaseux Lake banding station
south of Penticton, BC. This station is in a riparian location just
north of Vaseux Lake in the Okanagan Valley.

This message is forwarded from the BCINTBIRD group in B.C.

> Hi all:

> After Sunday's big day, I thought I'd send along new banding totals
for Vaseux. We've now banded 1285 birds of 52 species since August 1,
on pace for a record-setting year. Needless to say, the cool, wet
weather we've had in September has boosted numbers as birds that
normally move south at higher elevations have dropped into the valley
bottom. We've banded two species (double asterisks below) new to the
site this year--Gray Flycatcher and Black-and-white Warbler--and have
netted all-time record numbers of eight others (single asterisks
below).
> So here are the banding numbers as of yesterday. Thanks again
to all our volunteers, and if anyone would like to help out some
morning in the next couple of weeks, please let me know!
