Subject: Tweeters migrating from the Listproc. software to Mailman

Dear Tweeters Subscribers,

Tweeters will be moving to newer software called Mailman late Thursday
morning, September 23rd. It will take a while as there are quite a few
archives to move.

What is Mailman?

Mailman is the Web-based mail list manager used at the University of
Washington. Many people find Mailman more convenient and easier to use
than email-based listprocessor.

To post a message to Tweeters you will *still* send it to:
tweeters at u.washington.edu

Once the move is complete subscribers will be able change their mail
settings on the list information page at
http://mailman.u.washington.edu/mailman/listinfo/tweeters/
New subscriptions and unsubscribing will be done from this same page.
You'll certainly want to add this page to your Favorites (your bookmarks)
after when it exists after Thursday.

What Happened to ListProc?

The ListProc software was no longer adequate to handle the number of lists
and amount of traffic it was seeing at the University of Washington.
Computing & Communications made the decision to replace ListProc with
Mailman.

If you have any problems with the new software, please send your queries
directly to me dvictor at u.washington.edu rather then the whole list.

Thanks for your cooperation during these changes.

Good birding to you all,

Dan Victor
