Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday September 23. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

Two CANADA WARBLERS have been at Malheur NWR Headquarters all week and are
still being seen. On September 18 a juvenile BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER was along
Bayocean Road near the dike road at the south end of Tillamook Bay. A
juvenile BAR-TAILED GODWIT was seen September 17 at the South Jetty of the
Siuslaw River. On September 18 a HUDSONIAN GODWIT and a PACIFIC
GOLDEN-PLOVER were at Wickiup Reservoir south of Bend. On September 18 a
SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER was at Baskett Slough NWR. On September 20 a male
RUFF joined the SHARP-TAILED.

A very heavy migratory movement took place over the week-end. Especially
noticeable were TURKEY VULTURES, sparrows, thrushes, and RED-BREASTED
NUTHATCHES. SANDHILL CRANES are now moving with many now gathering on Sauvie
Island.

On September 20 seven LAPLAND LONGSPURS and a BOBOLINK were at the South
Jetty of the Columbia River. Over 400 GREAT EGRETS are now at Smith and
Bybee Lakes in North Portland. On September 16 an injured juvenile BLACK
SWIFT was picked up in West Linn. On September 19 two BLACK SWIFTS were
foraging low over the parking lot at Beaverton Town Square. A SEMIPALMATED
SANDPIPER was reported September 17 from the Fernhill Wetlands in Forest
Grove. The next day a LAPLAND LONGSPUR was there.

On September 21 a SABINE?S GULL was at Foster Reservoir near Sweet Home and
a PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVER was near Tangent. Up to four SWAINSON?S HAWKS and a
ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK are now among a hawk gathering on a field near Junction
City. A PARASITIC JAEGER is now hazing gulls at Fern Ridge Reservoir.

A BOBOLINK was at Hatfield Lake near Bend September 18. A PARASITIC JAEGER
was at Prineville Reservoir September 17. On September 19 a CLAY-COLORED
SPARROW was at Miller Island Wildlife Area south of Klamath Falls. On
September 17 a SABINE?S GULL was at Wallowa Lake. The next day two STILT
SANDPIPERS were at Thief Valley Reservoir south of LaGrande. A
CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER was in fields during the week.
