Hello Tweets,

Today my mother and I encountered continuing migrants in our yard with the main highlight of the day being a flock of 50 Greater White-fronted Geese that were observed flying over our residence this morning at 8am. The birds were also heard,as they came in from the west, then continued to the south towards Lakewood and they could very well have continued even further south. This is remarkably the second personal record for Greater White-fronted Geese for our yard, which is only special since we live in a very residential area far away from suitable grazing areas for geese, but anything can occur during migration. Perhaps other Tacoma residence observed this or other flocks of Greater White-fronted Geese flying over or from surrounding areas. Our passerine highlight of the day, which actually ended the day was a single Swainson's Thrush that made a brief visit to our backyard birdbath and was probably most attracted to our dripping system. This is our personal latest fall record of Swainson's Thrush to date, which made the sighting that much more special. Other noteworthy species observed today from or in our yard included the following:

1 Sharp-shinned hawk
1 Mourning Dove
4 Band-tailed Pigeons
5 Anna's Hummingbirds
2 Downy Woodpeckers
2 Northern Flickers
1 Bewick's Wren
1 Ruby-crowned Kinglet
15 Am.Robins
2 Cedar Waxwings
2 Hutton's Vireos
1 Orange-crowned Warbler
1 Yellow Warbler
1 Wilson's Warbler(personal latest fall record for our yard)
1 Golden-crowned Sparrow(1st of the season for our yard)
8 Dark-eyed"Oregon"Juncos
3 Am.Goldfinches
5 Evening Grosbeaks

In addition to Bob Sundstrom's Tweeters posting concerning recent Rufous Hummingbird sightings,as we observed two birds during our visit to Tokeland on the 19th of September and so far haven't recorded any from our feeders since the 30th of August going by our yard records.

Good birding,
