Today (Friday), Vicki King, Penny Koyama, Kristin Stewart, and I spent
the day birding on the coast. We found good numbers of shorebirds at
Bottle Beach, including 3 RED KNOTS. We watched a MERLIN stoop
repeatedly on the large flocks of peep, until it finally caught
something. Before the flocks could settle again, a PEREGRINE flew by;
this pretty much put an end to our shorebirding, so we moved on. At
Johns River WRA, we found one SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER. It was on the
pond closest to the blind, loosely associated with some dowitchers.
