Birders,

Today I spent the day in Salmon Arm, as has been the weekend ritual this
fall. My first stop was at Christmas Island, where I met Don Cecile, as
mentioned in his email. I won't bother you with a repeat list from Christmas
Island or the Nature Park, since I think we both had basically the same
lists. At 11:00 AM I met up with Hilary Gordon and we birded W. of town.

Tappen Bay along the Sunnybrae Tappen Road was quite productive today.
Here's what we saw there;

Common Loon 6
Horned Grebe 2
Red-necked Grebe 10
Western Grebe 20
Killdeer 4! Interesting that they seem to be scattered at locations other
than the mudflats.
Pectoral Sandpiper 4
Merlin 1
Red Crossbill 5

At Glen Echo along Hwy 1, W. of S.A we had a late (ish) Gray Catbird in the
bushes near a home beside the railroad tracks. At the beach at Glen Echo we
had 2 more Killdeer and far offshore had 2 SABINE'S GULLS, one of which was
a juv. The other was too far to ID to age.

First Nations Rd

Yellow-rumped Warbler 15
Orange-crowned Warbler 2
Western Tanager 1
Turkey Vulture 5
Red-tailed Hawk 1

Waterfront Trail at foot of 47th Ave

Yellow Warbler 1 late
Orange-crowned Warbler 1
Yellow-rumped Warbler 10
Common Yellowthroat 2
Spotted Towhee 1 male
Lincoln's Sparrow 1
Ruddy Duck 2
Bonaparte's Gull 1

That's about all,
