Hello Tweets,

This morning between 9:30am-10am my mother and I encountered a few passerine migrants in our yard, primarily from our large Paper Birch tree residing in our front yard. Our main highlight of was an immature Hermit Warbler observed with a pair of Townsend's Warblers,of which was an exciting and unexpected species to be added to our yard list, especially for the location and the date. The Hermit Warbler was only observed briefly, but well as it actively foraged near mid-canopy loosely associating with the 2 Townsend's Warbler and then flew to another patch of trees over our house in another yard. The Hermit Warbler was definitely a striking bird showing fairly buffy flanks unlike an adult bird along with an obvious pale yellow head with a partial, but faint face pattern bordering paler upperparts below. The back was olive-brown contrasting to the white wing bars. The bird seemed to feed less deliberately from branch to branch before continuing onto to an unknown location along with the 2 Townsend's Warbler and unlike other passerines in our yard "pishing" and an imitation of a Northern Pygmy Owl didn't seem to excite the bird.

Other notable species from our yard during the 30 minute duration included the following:

4 Anna's Hummingbirds
1 Downy Woodpecker
1 Brown Creeper
2 Bewick's Wrens
1 Golden-crowned Kinglet
1 Ruby-crowned Kinglet
4 Cedar Waxwings(flying over)
1 Western Tanager
1 Song Sparrow
2 Golden-crowned Sparrows
12 Dark-eyed"Oregon"Juncos
6 Pine Siskins
3 Am.Goldfinches
8 Evening Grosbeaks(flying over)

Good birding,
