The Scissor-tailed Flycatcher made a late appearance at 6:20 p.m. on
Monday,
September 27, 2004. It flew from the west, behind the Mose Lake Industries
building, over the MLI front gate and into the first of the trees in
line to the south
of the gate. It then immediately flew again; this time to the south
east toward the
generators in the northeast corner of Randolph Rd. and Tyndall Rd. From
there,
it made a few short flights and settled on the short electric fence that
runs along
the north side of the dry ditch just north of the generators. We
understand it likes
to hunt from this spot. It hunted often from this perch and was still
hunting there
when we left it.

Wilson Cady and I feel that we earned our views of this bird. I arrived
at the MLI
gate at 7:45 a.m. and Wilson shortly after at 8 a.m. We searched the
area constantly
all day long with a few more people joining us later in the day.

This bird may be spending the day on the west side of the Boeing
property which is
west of MLI and coming to the road area to roost at night. It is
difficult to see into
the Boeing property.

Also on the MLI property, Wilson spotted a Blue Jay in the southeast
corner in the
bushes and lower part of the corner tree.
