Last week I finally got Pine Siskins here in Centralia. They remembered my thistle feeder, evidently, and soon it was time to refill it. Something I haven't done all summer. I am confused, though. Reading all the books I have, I have not found that Pine Siskins should be yellow on the head, throat, and most of the stomach area. The back and wings are the normal for a Pine Siskin, and the tails are definitely Pine Siskin's. Is there the chance that this is a cross between goldfinches and Pine Siskins, or is it normal for the siskins to have this yellow color early in the fall? There are several at my feeder, and we have pics.
