Tweets - Eight of us birded on a rather dark and quiet morning this morning.
Thankfully there wasn't much fog, but the clouds didn't dissipate at all
until about 10:00, and they hung on somewhat all morning. The birds were
not overly abundant, but there were some surprises all day long.

Highlights:

Green Heron Adult at lake, 1st year bird in slough
TURKEY VULTURE 1 flying south over dog meadow
American Wigeon One at weir, one at lake First of Fall
Blue-winged Teal Two landed at weir, First of Fall
Northern Pintail Two landed at weir, new for the year
BALD EAGLE 1 well out on lake. First Sept. sighting ever
Northern Harrier 1 west of slough. Later 1 in East Meadow
Sharp-shinned Hawk Nice look at adult opposite Dog Central
Varied Thrush Heard near Interpretive Lot, 7:00 a.m.
AM. PIPIT 1 in grass fields being rototilled
Or-crowned Warbler One near mansion
Yellow Warbler 1 in East Meadow - latest fall sighting
Y-rumped Warbler Abundant and widespread
W. Meadowlark 3 in East Meadow
Brewer's Blackbird 3 in grass fields being rototilled
Purple Finch Good looks at 3 in the usual Ash tree

For the day, 69 species. For the year, adding the Pintail makes 138
species.
