The October meeting of the Washington Ornithological Society will be in
Seattle on Monday, October 4th

The speaker will be Chris Thompson, talking about Molting.

In addition to his research on depredation of hatchery fish stocks for the
WDFW, Chris Thompson has, for more than 25 years, studied all aspects of the
molting process including its evolutionary, ecological and physiological
dimensions. His topic for WOS will touch on the progressive changes in
plumage, identification challenges, what triggers physiological changes and
how molt affects migration in shorebirds as well as passerines. We can
expect to see specimens from The Burke Museum to help understand the process
and see the changes.

Note: Meetings are held the first Monday of each month (except July,
August, and September) at the Center for Urban Horticulture on the
University of Washington campus, 3501 N.E. 41st Street, Seattle, and are
open to all. The social begins at 7:00 pm, and the program starts at 7:30
pm.
