The flyoff from the Corfu corn field was spectacular this evening. Between 10,000 and 12,000 Sandhill Cranes left for their roost to the west between 6 and 6:45 pm. Another 25,000 Cackling and Canada Geese departed between 6:30 and 6:55. Not quite as many ducks swirling as last year but they were still buzzing the field when I left.

Corfu Road is ~13 miles west of Othello, south of highway 26. Bob Flores will be guiding the last Crane Festival bus tomorrow. It leaves from the Columbia NWR office (7th and Main) at 4 pm, and last I knew there was still some space.
