Hey Tweeters, nothing special here but thought I'd post regarding my first
real spring birding this year (yikes). I walked a segment of the Chehalis
Western Trail this morning and enjoyed being out with all the birds in song.
The trail was between 89th Ave and 103rd Ave, maybe a mile or two. Just to
be different I'm going to list the species according to who was singing and
who was quiet.

Saw:
1 Bald Eagle (adult)
2 R/T Hawk
2 Accipiter sp. (didn't get on either quick enough)
Violet-green Swallow

Interesting birds that I heard/saw:
California Quail
1 Mourning Dove
6 Rufous Hummingbird (all were feisty)
1 Pileated Woodpecker
2 Hutton's Vireo
Bushtit
11 Orange-crowned Warblers (they seemed to be everywhere)
1 Townsend's Warbler
4 Common Yellowthroat
White-crowned Sparrow (pugetensis)
5 Purple Finch
2 Evening Grosbeak

And also was visited by a single Red Crossbill in one of the Douglas Firs
next door in East Olympia. The first I've seen/heard in the neighborhood
since last summer. They don't seem to keep a schedule in my area, just show
up whenever they want.
