Yesterday, (April 6) while waiting out the 11:20 Bald Eagle pass to resettle
the ducks at the BAIKAL TEAL location, I heard a chickadee calling from
across the street. It struck me as being somewhat odd, in that the location
is not ideal chickadee territory, and the call grabbed my attention in that
it seemed ?off?. I located the bird moving about in a small willow on the
south side of the highway, and saw that it was a MOUNTAIN CHICKADEE. It
disappeared when I turned to get another birder?s attention (that was
understandably difficult), and I could not relocate it, as the traffic
lights had turned and the traffic noise resumed.

Many thanks to Aaron for leaving the arrow. In the 3 ? hours I was there,
it was comforting to know that someone had seen the bird the day before and
left some indication of where to look. The bird is gorgeous, and well worth
the wait.
