I watched once as a river otter held a Canada Goose's head underwater
in a flooded agricultural field until it drowned, and then dragged it
to cover at the edge of the field. The other geese complained bitterly,
but at a safe distance. So they are a threat to adult birds too.

I have seen mink do the same thing in the Goldstream River near
Victoria, holding a gull underwater and drifting downstream until the
gull succumbed. This was during the fall salmon run when gulls are
abundant, and apparently preoccupied.
