Songbirds and shorebirds are moving. Though most of these migrants are
expected and some have over-wintered but are being seen in new locations,
it is worthwhile to note their passing and arrivals.

On March 31, Bob Woodley noted the return of the OSPREY to its nest pole at
Acme Concrete in Richland.

Jack and Murrel Dawson had 1 GOLDEN-CROWNED and 1 RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET in
their Benton City yard on April 1.

Margaret Greger reported a brief visit by a SPOTTED TOWHEE in her Richland
yard on April 2.

On April 4, Bob Woodley found an immature BALD EAGLE, 24 AMERICAN AVOCETS,
4 BLACK-NECKED STILTS, 11 GREATER YELLOWLEGS, and a CASPIAN TERN on the
Yakima Delta. He also found a TURKEY VULTURE in West Richland on April 5.

Dennis Rockwell had 4 PINE SISKINS and a very early NASHVILLE WARBLER in
Two Rivers Park in Kennewick on April 6.

Ruth Fischer reported a HOUSE WREN checking out a nest box in her Richland
yard on April 7. This arrival is just over a week early.

Also on April 7, Bob Woodley had 3 GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLETS and 2
RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHES in his Richland yard. The next day he found a
BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON at Acme Concrete, a FORSTER'S TERN, a BARN
SWALLOW, and a TREE SWALLOW at the Yakima Delta.

Sheila Moon reported a white AMERICAN CROW in her Richland neighborhood on
April 9 and 10. This leucistic bird has been seen in various places around
Richland off and on for a while.

To report your own sightings, please give your name, phone number, date,
and sightings after the tone. Thank you.
