Dear Tweeters,

Using a string or rope does discourage Canada Geese. My brother has a summer cottage on a lake in Michigan. He runs a rope along the beach a short distance from the ground. When he wants to use the beach he removes the rope and he then replaces it when he is through for the day. The geese are somewhat clumsy on land and simply do not like to step over or go under it.

There are many humane ways to peacefully co-exist with Canada Geese. The pilot Seattle Goose Program was a great success last year. The program is run by PAWS, the Humane Society of the U.S. and Seattle Parks and Recreation.

For more information or to volunteer for the program see http://www.paws.org/outreach/campaigns/goose_program.html<http://www.pawsorg/outreach/campaigns/goose_program.html>

I volunteered last year and will do it again this year.
