Greetings Tweeters,

This morning, which is gloriously sunny here in Mukilteo, I stopped by the Lighthouse Park to see if the Goldeneyes were still around and took a bag of British muffins to play the catch-in-the-air game with the sea gulls. Several minutes into the
first inning, one excellent player was gliding in fast and straight-on for the toss. I obliged and then the darndest thing happened. A crow flew in from left field and intercepted the morsel in midair before the gull got to it! First time I have ever had a crow participate in this game. They usually wait on the ground and away from the crowd to get bits and pieces later, while the pigeons all cluster at my feet for the crumbs as they fall.

Here is the list of species I sighted, which is certainly down in both variety and numbers:
At the lighthouse beach -
1 Red-brested Merganser
1 juvenile Surf Scooter
1 Double-crested Cormorant
1 adult seal
Gulls, Crows, Rock Doves and House Sparrows

By the Silver Cloud Inn and north -

12 Barrow's Goldeneye (males and females)
4 Double-crested Cormorants
2 Starlings
2 Mallards (male and female)
