While driving on SR 101 to Olympia this morning I saw a quail cross the
road about 2 miles north of the Hama Hama river mouth (mile post 318).
Thinking that it was a fairly odd place for a California Quail (i.e.
heavily forested with madronas and cedars) I slowed down to take a
look. In fact, it was a strange place for a California Quail as t bird
was clearly a male MOUNTAIN QUAIL. I was not aware that there were any
Mountain Quails on the west side of the Hood Canal.

Also, yesterday, there were 3 WESTERN BLUEBIRDS along Schmuck Road near
Sequim.
