Dawn Bailey & I walked the boardwalk at Nisqually this morning from 10:15 to
12:15. Dawn wanted to see the BARN OWL and asked me to show it to her. Of
course she got there early and had already seen it before I got there. While
she was looking at the BARN OWL I was on the overlook behind the visitor center
watching a SORA in the reeds below, a first for the year at Nisqually for
me. Dawn also had a PEREGRINE FALCON fly over while looking at the BARN OWL.

Later we walked the boardwalk and got a look at 2 baby GREAT HORNED OWLS
inside the boardwalk from the trail to the twin barns. We also got a good look
at the BUSHTIT nest. Momma must have been restless because the nest was moving
quit a bit. we also saw a CHESTNUT BACKED CHICKADEE bringing nesting material
to a hole and a RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKER hanging onto a possible nest hole.

Lots of SWALLOWS about with CLIFF SWALLOWS galore at the twin barns. Don't
think there is enough eave space for all the CLIFF SWALLOWS to nest.

All told we had 43 species in 2 hours. The SORA gives us 99 species for the
year.

Can't wait until Thursday for a longer walk. Until then.....
