Hello Tweets and NW Inlanders,

We wanted to forward this message from an Oregon birder of their recent
visit to the Spokane area for of those of you that may be interested. Of
special note are the pair of Am.Redstarts, which seem very early for that
area and for eastern WA,as a whole.

Sincerely,

Ruth and Patrick Sullivan

Hi Ruth or Patrick,

I am not on the Tweeters list to post. I visited the Spokane area this
weekend and found 2 blue jays at Turnbull NWR in Cheney. They were first
heard giving their bell like calls and then located about 1\4 mile from the
headquarters at the beginning of the auto route 5 mile loop.

Two male American redstarts were noted along the trail where the Aspen
stands were along the route as well.

Plenty of Western bluebirds (dozen or so), red naped sapsuckers (12 birds
total along the entire trail)--lots of drumming activity, and about 20 ruby
crowned kinglets.

A small flock of flying white throateds swifts were located off I-90 East
near downtown Spokane at the Lincoln St. Exit . Surprised to see them near
the city limits.

Did not locate the great tailed grackle near the golf course in Liberty
Lake.

Good birding,

Khanh Tran
