Hi Tweeters,

I led a Yakima Valley Audubon field trip to Klickitat County yesterday. We
got rained on a bit but the worse rain came when we were driving home.

We have dipped on Acorn Woodpeckers nearly every year I have led this trip
but this time I had high hopes because of reports that the ACWOs had moved
to a new area along Balch Lake Road. Once again, though, we found no Acorn
Woodpeckers. We spent over an hour along Balch Lake Road, and then moved
down to the highway to see if they were at the old granary tree. None
could be found.

Vera Backstrom spotted a Eurasian Starling with a bill that was decurved
and had the upper mandible about 2 1/2 inches long. The lower mandible was
much shorter. Its photo is in the new photos folder of my website.
