Hello,

Yesterday, as part of a Western Washington University seabird study, I
censused the waters on the west side of Whibey Island, north of the Keystone
Ferry. My group had a good day of censusing, with almost perfect weather
(very little wind) that made for excellent viewing conditions.

The highlight of the day was getting good looks at an ANCIENT MURRELET seen
off W Beach Rd., north of Fort Ebey State Park. It's white neck really stood
out, and it was even close enough to see its ancient eyebrow. After seeing
hundreds of Pigeon Guillemots and Rhinocerous Auklets, and a few dozen
Marbled Murrelets and Common Murres, the ANMU made it a five alcid species
day. Pretty cool!

Good Migrations,
