Greetings Tweets -

On April 16th I reported a Pine Siskin irruption of up to 50 birds this
year at my place near Black Lake, southwest of Olympia. Apparently this
was a fairly common occurrence this year:

Guy McWethy wrote me, "Starting on March 6, I've had between 50 - 20
Siskins, all day every day."

Joy Markgraf, from the White Salmon area reported: "large flock of Pine
Siskins all winter - in the White Salmon area.."

Bryan in Shoreline also "noticed an increase in Siskin visits to the
feeders and also a bit more colorization this year as well. Over the years
the Pine Siskins have been a bit of an anomaly as their numbers
increase/decrease due to no apparent reason."

Mary Klein in Bremerton reported "a dozen or so birds. They arrived in my
ordinary front yard in Bremerton about a month ago and seem to have
settled in for the duration."

Laura Till wrote me, "I am experiencing a similar siskin invasion at my
feeders in Lacey. I have about a hundred siskins eating seed like there?s
no tomorrow."

And finally, Jeanie and Vern Sumner of Graham reported: "This is the first
time in 12 years that we have had big flocks of siskins."
